GONE SUMMER, TOO SOON

By Pat Dashosh, September 2, 2007

We plotted and planned for each Party's band

Club members will come if you make it fun!

GONE SUMMER, TOO SOON!

Cool winds off the lake,

We waited, not sated by spring.

GONE SUMMER, TOO SOON!

We waited and elated when winds turned warm,

The season had changed, no ice caps formed.

GONE SUMMER, TOO SOON!

May arrived with warm winds so dear,

Memorial Day arrived too, to give us cheer.

GONE SUMMER, TOO SOON!

We caked and pied, for some we cried,

For others so dear, we worried with fear.

GONE SUMMER, TOO SOON!

We sailed and tennised with much glee,

The tram worked smoothly for you and me.

GONE SUMMER, TOO SOON!

We Matted and Susaned, put a toe in the pool,

The lifeguards kept us safe as we kept cool.

GONE SUMMER, TOO SOON!

We Dianaed and Kathleened, Brittanyed and Lorrained

They kept smiling in sunshine and rain.

GONE SUMMER, TOO SOON!

We canastaed and bridged and mah jonged for fun,

In the clubhouse and under the sun.

GONE SUMMER, TOO SOON!

We black angussed and steaked overlooking the lake.

Happy to eat Rick's food which tasted so great.

GONE SUMMER, TOO SOON!

We Riverboated and Operaed and Karoked so fine.

We Crossed Delancy, we Copaed, we tasted some wine.

GONE SUMMER, TOO SOON!

We Lobstered and Hawaiianed under the stars

On nights so clear we saw Jupiter and Mars

GONE SUMMER, TOO SOON!

We Billy Joeled, we Italianed, we Russianed for sure.

We met Dan Kingman whom we came to adore.

GONE SUMMER, TOO SOON!

We Nauticaled and Spanished, the DJ was great.

We Hungarianed and Cabareted and never came late.

GONE SUMMER, TOO SOON!

We sang and Gypsied , the show was Right.

We Big Banded a tune in pretty Black and White.

GONE SUMMER, TOO SOON!

It's over now, the season is done

Labor Day has arrived as fast as a run.

GONE SUMMER, TOO SOON!

The summer has flown, we edge to the fall.

We'll miss our GSYC friends as they scatter, one and all!

GONE SUMMER, TOO SOON!
