Ladies:
July 25th Ladies Luncheon - Tanya Taybak will be leading a book review.
The book to be reviewed is "In My Brothers Image" the author is Eugene Pogany.

Tram:
The tram is working. Gabe Torok installed new controls which doesn't need a key. When you push either the up or down button keep it pressed as it takes a moment or two to get moving. Also, there is no truth to the rumor that you need to stick your foot out to stop it.

Thermostat:
The new thermostat in the dining room is digital and has been reprogrammed by Gabe. Gabe couldn't understand how the programing that he had set up last year got so screwed up. I didn't have the heart to tell him that there are 101 different finger prints on there. Gabe is the only one who can program that thermostat and he won't be back until December.

Now I want to share with you some Commodore moments of today

I arrived at the club around 10:30AM. We have some work being done and I wanted to check up on it. The docks are being power washed, the fencing around the pool is being painted, etc. etc. I thought I wouldn't be more than 1/2 hour.

I walked out on the deck and looked down at the pool. I freaked out. The pool was a solid green...You could have spelled J..E..T..S on the surface, thats how green it was. I became calm and made a plan. I took out my phone and yelled "Hank...the friggen pool is green!!!" Hank replies "SO!" I go "what do you mean "SO"? He tells me to call Redan. Well Redan is cruising in east ochenvay. Then he says, OK call Pressler. Right, I'll call Pressler. I called his office, they didn't know that he still worked there. I then called his house and got a machine. I left a calm message.."Shelly its Alan, the friggen pool is green!"

Just then a young lady drove up. She is from the independant testing lab that guess what, comes weekly to test the pool. She looks at the pool, then looks at me and then looks at the pool again and says "Thats the greenest pool I have ever seen."  No S_ _T!!!  She tells me its algae. She does some testing and tells me the chlorine level is zero and the PH is through the roof. Well folks, let me explain, The only thing I know about pools is that its a handy place to take a leak. What is PH??  Chlorine, it's in toothpaste to stop cavities. She says to me "good luck" and leaves.

I call Hank back and tell him what she said. Hank says take a sample and go to the pool place on Rte 46. "Hank, what pool place?" Hank says "I don't know but Pressler was there last week." Plan #2..get out the yellow pages. Look for pool places on Rte 46 that says Pressler was there. Want to know how many pool places there are on Rte 46??? 6....I then go back to the pool and I need to get a sample. No jars are to be found in the whole club. I find, in the Taj, (pool house for those that didn't build it) a plastic cup. I take a sample and head off to Rte 46.

There was a place right next to Redan's office. I walk in there with my plastic cup. All the employees were laughing. I looked like I was giving a sample to Jeff Katz (our resident urologist for the unitiated). I announce that I'm from the Garden State Yacht Club, do you know us? Well, guess what? This was the place that Pressler went to. Got it on the first shot! They analyzed the sample and then they asked me how big the pool is. Well, I came armed, Hank had told me. I said it's 100,000 gallons. 5 employees fell out of their chairs. $400.00 later and loaded with chemicals I'm on the way back to the club. I have very strict instructions on how to apply the chemicals. I call Hank and tell him he had better come over and help me. I then give the pool the first treatment which I won't get into. The next treatment is to be done 1 hour later.

About 1/2 hr later Buck shows up. He knows all about this garbage. Why wasn't he there a couple of hours earlier!! Hank then shows up and he cleans out the filters and he and Bucky do a back wash (which is another story). We had a river of green crap running down the driveway toward the lake. Hank, Bucky and I then do the next treatment and we leave. I got home at 3:30PM and there was a message on my machine from Matt our lifeguard. I quote "Mr. Karpas..I was at the pool this morning and it's very, very green....."
