News story from last Tuesday
Hurricane Ernesto misses Florida but hits
Hopatcong NJ...
This was an unbelievable weekend for me
Tremendous highs and a bunch of lows
Friday September 1, 2006
The Cabaret featured Barbara Brussel, who was
spectacular!
However, this is how the evening started.
Barbara walked in around 5:30 wearing an
overcoat.
Since I normally set the temperature in the
dining room at 68 degrees in order to cool down the room before 100
people enter it, I knew I was up that perverbial creek.
"Hi Barbara.. can I help you?" "Yes, where do I
set up and where is Phyllis?"
"You set up here in the freezer and Phyllis is on her way, but
probably won't be here soon enough."
So, I immediately raise the temperature to 95
degrees. (remember, the heat is not on..I just wanted to make sure the
air didn't go on)
Barbara tries our sound system. I say to her
"If it's not ok, we have another one. It's very special and it's
called the
Gabe "Boise" Torok special sound system."
"YOUR system has feed back!!!" she shouts.
(well, what do you expect that's our
membership)
OK.
"Try our Gabe "Boise" Torok sound system"
"OK this is good and will work"
(Thank you Gabe.. once again)
Whew, and Phyllis now arrives to protect me.
"Hi Phyl..This is Barbara..enjoy..I'll see ya"
Next time I see both of them they are at the
bar talking.
Phyllis: "Your accompanist was rude." Barbara
pulls a Hank "So?".
Now, I'm watching this and thinking...Phyllis
please wait until after the show, then attack. Not now!!!
The night progresses and it is an incredible
performance and evening.
Barbara & Phyllis are now best friends and I
have befriended the eunich accompanist.
