GSYC TEAM 2007
DASHES AND NOTES FROM THE COMMODORE
MAY 28, 2007

The Memorial Day Weekend has come to a close. Thanks to the weather committee, Paul and Sheila Siegel, the weather was perfect for our first club season weekend.

On Friday afternoon we were treated to hor's d'oeuvres at our very early, beat the traffic, happy hour. Then we were serenaded by the Highlander Jazz Ensemble while we dined on a fabulous buffet dinner.

Saturday, little Connor and Cameron Tuths inaugurated the pool for everyone this season and were treated to ice cream from Commodore Jack. It was wonderful seeing the many members and their children enjoying the club facilities including lunch on the deck, swimming at the pool and boating on the lake. The club never looked better.

Saturday evening was our Memorial Day Ball hosted by the Ungers and the Chontows. The Perry Brothers played their hearts out for us as we danced and ate and celebrated until the wee hours of the morning.

Sunday, May 27, was the General Membership Meeting and buffet dinner. It was well attended and very good to see most of our snowbirds back from their winter hibernation.

Today was the Memorial Day Picnic. Once again the weather was perfect and the turnout was great. It was wonderful seeing so many families enjoying the day. We sang happy birthday to Alice Oshins, and were treated to a delicious birthday cake compliments of her parents, the Hurwits.

The new Pool Hours for June will include Friday from 10 am to 6 pm in order for our members to extend their weekend, beat the traffic and be treated to early happy hour. We hope all those that can, will take advantage of these extended hours.

Friday Night, June 1 is FAMILY DINNER NIGHT with folk singer, Ruth Cohen. Please call Jean Ellen Kaufman for reservations. (973/401-0348)
This is the night you may bring your children and grandchildren and uncles and aunts and grandmas and great grandparents to dinner at the club.

Saturday evening, June 2, 2007, is MISSISSIPPI RIVERBOAT NIGHT with a Dixieland Band and a surprise guest. Call Sue Newmann (973/992-5059) or Kathi Schulman ( 973/810-3324) or Margie Karpas (973/994-0486). This is sure to be a great club event. Please don't miss it!

I would like to share the following email I received:

"Beck of course will not be at the meeting ... but he is doing what he is supposed to be doing with tough chemo but seems to be toughing it  out and enjoying all the female attention he is getting at Cornell Weil East 58 and York NYC... Have a great weekend and if we get lucky we will see you in a month ... love, B Beck"

All of us at the GSYC send our love and best wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery to D Beck. See you in July!

Jack Dashosh,
Commodore
