"A day in the life of the Commodore"
Today
August 27th
It's pouring out. 10:33am.
Phone rings. It's Rick the caterer.
"Um Mr. Karpas..I'm downstairs at the furnace room and we have a major leak..water is pouring out."
My reaction was "Hello..who is this? I think you have the wrong number!!"
"Nooo Mr. Karpas it's Rick and it's pouring out" Ok GSYC Emergency Management in action (GEMA)
"Hank..its Alan.. we have a major leak in the furnace room..it's the heat pump that you and Eli installed..you know the one he rebuilt in his basement? The one that came from his ranch and don't say "SO". Call Rick tell him how to shut off the water"
Hank calls me back, the water is off and he and Eli are on the way.
(and so am I and Margie, who thought she would have a peaceful day reading the papers)
We get to the club at noon time. At the club is Hank, Eli, Rick, Lorraine, Susan the life guard and the birds on the dock.
Hank & Eli have the water to the club back on and have by-passed the problem area.
Hank & Eli are starting to head out to Home Depot
Question " What are you going to get at Home Depot?"
Answer "Well..we need some parts to fix the pump." My answer.."Noooo, you don't need parts. You need a new pump." Answer: "OK"
3hrs later with Eli and Hank working their butts off
(I had lunch)
The new pump was intsalled and everyone was happy.
Before Rick went home, he had prepared lunch for Eli & Hank, and I served them. I also hid and trashed the old pump so Eli won't be able to rebuild it.
"A day (today) in the life of the Commodore."
