DASHES AND NOTES FROM THE COMMODORE

    Saturday, June 16, Peter Luger Steak Night at the GSYC, was a huge success thanks to the great efforts of our hosts, the Grubers and the Kirks. The clubhouse looked gorgeous and who wouldn't believe you weren't in Brooklyn?
 
    Sunday, Father's Day Brunch was the best attended event of this season thanks to the wonderful planning and talents of Bonnie and Bob Margolies. Afterwards the pool was crowded with families and their children, the sound of laughter was heard all afternoon. A special thanks to Matt, one of our lifeguards, who made the afternoon swim so enjoyable for our members and their guests.
 
COMING ATTRACTIONS:
 
    Friday June 22 we are having a "Hors d'oeuvres, Wine and More" party. Come and enjoy a lovely summer Friday Evening on our deck and delight in the best views on the lake while you enjoy Rick's delicious and most popular hors d'oeuvres as well a selection of wines. Please call The Schlossers ( 973/540-8768) for reservations.
 
    Saturday June 23 is an evening with the music of Billy Joel. If you enjoyed our Dixieland Band earlier this month, you will be knocked off your socks with this entertainer performing at your club! For reservation call the Steins at 973/770-4824.
 
    Sunday, June 24 will be a special day at The Garden State Yacht Club. We are having an Open House for prospective members. This will be happening between Noon and 4 PM. We need your help! Come and be part of the membership committee to escort prospective members on a tour of your club. You love the club! Come and help show it off! We will be serving hotdogs and hamburgers at the dock along with soft drinks. Please call Steve Berger at 973/ 827-2275 so he knows exactly who will be assisting the membership committee showing the club.
I will be at the dock greeting people coming by boat. Pat will be in the clubhouse  greeting people coming by car.
 
    CLUBHOUSE RULES:
 
    I have observed members and non members going behind the bar to serve themselves drinks. This is not permitted. Only our bar tender and servers are permitted behind the bar at any time. In addition, the bar is open to those members who attend a particular function. We are not a cocktail lounge. Therefore, if you have not signed up for a particular event on Friday or Saturday evening you will not be served liquor. Furthermore, the bar will be closed as dessert is being served after dinners on Friday and Saturday night. At that time the bar will be open to serve cappuccino and espresso only. No liquor will be served after dessert.  
 
    Both Pat and I have been thoroughly enjoying the summer and we thank you for all of your support and kind words.
